CA IC Announces Appointments To WCIRB Governing Committee

                               Oakland, CA (CompNewsNetwork) - Insurance Commissioner Poizner today announced that he has reappointed Lee Pearson, of Rancho Murieta, and Bruce Wick, of San Bernardino, to the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee.

Pearson has served on the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee since his original appointment date in August 2009. He is currently retired and most recently served as the General Vice President of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. He has worked representing labor since 1978, starting as a business representative at a local lodge. Pearson's entire career has been in labor, working in a number of capacities. Pearson studied labor at San Diego City College and is a trustee with the Guide Dogs of America. 

Wick has served on the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee since his original appointment date in August 2008. He is the Director of Risk Management for the California Professional Association of Specialty Contractors. He previously held a Fire and Casualty Broker-Agent license from 1991 until 1999. Wick earned a degree in business administration from CSU San Bernardino. He is also active with Kiwanis, the California Building Industry Association and the Dibble Institute. 

Pearson is being reappointed to a position representing organized labor. Wick is being reappointed to a position representing insured employers.

The WCIRB Governing Committee is comprised of twelve members: seven private insurers; State Compensation Insurance Fund; and four public members, two representing insured employers and two representing organized labor. Except for State Compensation Insurance Fund, insurer members are elected for two-year terms by the membership at the Annual Meeting, while public members are appointed for two-year terms by the Insurance Commissioner. By statute, State Compensation Insurance Fund is a permanent member of the Governing Committee. The Insurance Commissioner, or his designated representative, is entitled to attend all meetings of the Governing Committee.
