CA DWC To Discuss Revisions To Utilization Review Regulations With Stakeholders At April Meeting

Sacramento, CA (CompNewsNetwork) - The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has scheduled a stakeholder meeting to discuss revisions to its utilization review regulations. Discussion will focus on simplifying and clarifying California's utilization review (UR) rules.

“With this stakeholder meeting, in less than a year we will have taken action on 10 of the 12 points in our plan to monitor and help control workers' compensation medical costs,” said DWC acting Administrative Director Carrie Nevans. “We've been doing UR in workers' comp for a few years now, so it's time to hear from those in the field about what's working and where we can improve.”

The division is interested in hearing comments, suggestions, and options regarding the UR regulations from interested parties at the stakeholder meeting.

The meeting will be held:

Date: Thursday, April 8, 2010
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Place: Elihu Harris State Office Building – Auditorium
1515 Clay Street
Oakland, California  94612

Utilization review (UR) is required by Labor Code section 4610 and regulations are contained in Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations, sections 9792.6 through 9792.15.
