CA DWC Issues 2nd 15-Day Notice Of Revisions To Proposed WC Information System Regs

Oakland, CA (CompNewsNetwork) - The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has further modified its proposed regulations for the Workers' Compensation Information System (WCIS). A second 15-day notice of modification has been posted on the DWC Web site. These modifications will improve medical lien reporting, which will allow DWC to better monitor medical costs. They are also part of the division's 12-point plan to effectively carve out and address costly issues in California's workers' compensation system.

The modified proposals and additional information can be found at http://www.dwc.ca.gov/DWCPropRegs/WCIS_Regs/WCIS_Regulations.htm

Members of the public may comment on the revisions until 5 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2010.

The proposed revisions to the draft include:

  • clarification of benefit sequencing rules for the final report in the proposed California electronic data interchange (EDI) Implementation Guide for First and Subsequent Reports of Injury.
  • matching the conditional reporting rules for Data Element 84, Permanent Impairment Percent, with those for Data Element 70, Date of Maximum Medical Improvement.
