Bob Wilson to Present “The Wild and Wacky World of Workers’ Comp” at Alabama Self-Insurers Summer Conference

Sarasota, FL (WorkersCompensation.com) – Bob Wilson, President & CEO of WorkersCompensation.com, and author of the blog “From Bob's Cluttered Desk” is scheduled to speak at the summer conference of the Alabama Self-Insurers Association on August 13, 2013. His session, “The Wild and Wacky World of Workers' Comp” will be a lighthearted look at some of the very strange and unique situations employers and professionals deal with in the world of workers' compensation. The conference will run from August 11 – 13, 2013, in Destin, FL.

Wilson's presentation will range from his own humorous experiences running the largest online information service for the workers' compensation industry, to an interactive game for attendees called “Compensable or Non-Compensable”.  That game will consist of a review of some of the more “unique” claims that have come to Wilson's attention over the years, and the audience will get to guess on whether benefits were awarded or not in those cases. Wilson says of this session, “I am very excited about the opportunity to present this topic. Our world is a complete mystery to many workers and employers who do not toil in the trenches of workers' compensation every day. This leads to some pretty interesting and humorous situations.” He sums up the session by simply saying, “This should be a lot of fun”.

The Alabama Self-Insurers Association (ASIA) was formed in 1992 by ten self-insured companies with the goal of helping employers understand worker's compensation law and any proposed changes, as well as ensuring equitable coverage for the injured employee. Today, ASIA boasts a membership in excess of 400. ASIA is a statewide, non-profit membership organization that represents the interests of employers in Alabama who self-insure workers' compensation coverage on their employees.
