Attorney General Madigan Reaches Agreement For Republic Workers

Chicago, IL (CompNewsNetwork) - Attorney General Lisa Madigan today announced a deal under which union employees at Republic Windows and Doors Inc. will receive the compensation required under Illinois law.

Today's agreement is the result of intense negotiations that have been underway since Monday between Attorney General Madigan, Congressman Luis Gutierrez, Treasurer Giannoulias, Alderman Rick Munoz, Alderman Manny Flores, the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and Operation PUSH.

“It is absolutely critical that the men and women who worked for Republic Windows and Doors receive the compensation that they have earned,” Madigan said. “My office took quick action here to make sure that the workers receive this compensation. I am pleased and grateful for the leadership and commitment of Bank of America and commitment of Chase in reaching this critical agreement.”

Under the agreement reached late this afternoon, over 200 unionized employees of Republic will receive compensation for an additional 60 days. The employees also will receive vacation pay.

Attorney General Madigan said she remains concerned about consumers who may have paid deposits toward the purchase of windows and may need assistance communicating with the company to obtain refunds of their deposits. Consumers having difficulty communicating with Republic regarding their deposits should contact the Attorney General's consumer fraud hotline at 1-800-386-5438.
