ASSE Releases New Refresher Guide To Assist Occupational Safety Professionals Pursue Accreditation

                               

Des Moines, IL (CompNewsNetwork) - The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) announced today the availability of the updated ASSE Refresher Guide for the Board of Certified Safety (BCSP) Professionals' Safety Fundamentals Examination, known as the ASSE Refresher Guide.

The ASSE Refresher Guide was first published by ASSE in 1984, and revised in 1991, 1997, and 2002. In 1997, a separate volume was added to further help applicants prepare for the safety fundamentals exam. Volume two of the ASSE Refresher Guide now contains more than 500 questions, and, the computational problems have worked solutions. All of the examination topics are discussed and explained in the first volume. The new ASSE Refresher Guide contains the latest best practices and current codes, regulations, standards, and references used today by safety professionals. Each chapter was thoroughly reviewed and modified to reflect the knowledge and skills needed by today's practicing certified safety professional (CSP).

Volume one was edited by C. David Langlois, CSP, president of Langlois, Weigand & Associates, Inc. Formerly on the faculty of Louisiana State University, Langlois is an instructor for ASSE as well as a safety consultant. He has over 30 years of experience in the safety and health training field. His expertise includes safety inspections, accident investigations, industrial hygiene, safety audits, hazard recognition, substance abuse awareness, and safety management. Since 1986, he has conducted safety and health professional exam preparation workshops at many local, regional, and national conferences, and ASSE seminars.

Volume two was written by Hamid R. Kavianian, Ph.D., CSP. Dr. Kavianian is a professor in the College of Engineering at Cal State—Long Beach, and an expert in occupational and environmental safety engineering and management with more than 20 years of experience.

The new ASSE Refresher Guide is also a valuable resource to the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) candidate.
