American Bar Insurance Names Bill Bear As Executive Director

                               

Chicago, IL (CompNewsNetwork) - American Bar Insurance Plan Consultants, Inc., a sponsor of insurance plans for the more than 400,000 members of the American Bar Association, has named Bill Bear as its executive director, effective immediately.  He reports to the six-member ABI Board of Directors.

Bear was hired as ABI's account manager in 1998 and was promoted to vice president in 2004.  He has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry.  Bear began his insurance career with Celtic Insurance in Chicago and later worked with CNA Insurance before joining ABI.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Bear received his undergraduate degree in marketing in 1980 and a Masters of Business Administration in 1987.  He holds a number of insurance and securities licenses including Series 6, 63, Accident/Health, Life, Property and Casualty and Variable Contract. 

American Bar Insurance Plans Consultants, Inc. was established in 1989 as a wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary of the American Bar Endowment.  The Endowment is a non-profit membership organization consisting of ABA members.  It offers unique group insurance programs in which ABA/ABE members are asked to donate dividends to the Endowment to support its program of grants to support research, education and public service in the field of law.  ABI sponsors insurance programs for ABA members that do not lend themselves to the Endowment's dividend contribution structure.  ABI is paid compensation by the underwriters of the programs it sponsors and dividends an appropriate portion of its net profits to the Endowment to support its charitable work.
