Recently, Prodigy Care Services made Colleen Seal its new chief sales officer. We were fortunate enough to borrow some of Ms. Seal's time, and she shared some of her knowledge and wisdom on leadership, lessons learned, and what the future might hold.
Q. What's your path been to this role with Prodigy Care Services and how has it set you up for the work in front of you?
Colleen Seal: My path to joining Prodigy Care Services has been shaped by 35 years in the workers' compensation managed care industry. My career path has been a progression of building high-performing sales organizations within the workers’ compensation industry. In these roles, I gained a deep understanding of the complexities of pharmacy benefit management including formulary design, opioid stewardship, fraud/waste/abuse mitigation, cost containment strategies, and the importance of seamless integration with claims workflows.
Each step has prepared me for the scope and responsibility of the Chief Sales Officer role at Prodigy to drive growth, elevate market presence, and ensure that our PBM delivers meaningful value to stakeholders across the workers’ compensation ecosystem. My experience has given me both the technical understanding of the industry and the leadership experience required to execute at a high level from day one.
Q. How do you describe your "why" for doing what you do day in and day out?
CS: My “why” comes down to improving the lives of injured workers and the people who support them. In workers’ compensation, pharmacy has a massive impact on recovery, return-to-work timelines, cost, and on quality of life. Every day at Prodigy, I am motivated by the chance to remove barriers, simplify the process, and ensure the right medication reaches the right person at the right time.
My deeper “why” is that I believe that we can deliver both financial value to our customers and human value to the patient/injured workers’ reducing unnecessary costs while improving outcomes and safety.
As a leader, my why also extends to empowering teams. I am driven by helping people grow, succeed, and feel connected to a mission bigger than daily tasks. When our team feels that purpose, our customers feel it too.
Q. What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
CS: What I am most looking forward to in this new role is the opportunity to create meaningful impact-both in how we serve our clients and in how we position Prodigy Care Services within the workers’ compensation market. This is a space where strategic innovation truly matters, and I am excited to help shape a sales organization that not only drives growth but also elevates the standard of pharmacy management for injured workers.
I am energized by the chance to build and mentor a high-performing team, align sales strategy with clinical and operational excellence, and craft a value story that resonates deeply with our clients. I am looking forward to being a part of a leadership team that is committed to doing things differently-smarter, faster and with more purpose.
Q. What is your biggest challenge in your new role?
CS: The biggest challenge will be driving fast, sustainable growth while ensuring we consistently deliver the high-quality service and outcomes our clients expect. The workers’ compensation PBM space is competitive and constantly evolving, so aligning our sales strategy with strong operational and clinical execution will be essential. It is a challenge that Prodigy is poised for, and I am excited to take on.
What lesson(s) would you say have had the biggest influence on your career?
CS: The lesson that’s had the biggest influence on my career is that clarity and consistency win. Whether it’s leading teams, building relationships, or driving growth, people respond to clear expectations, honest communication, and follow-through. When you show up consistently, you build trust. That mindset has shaped how I lead and how I approach every challenge.
