June 18 CONN-OSHA Workshop Promotes Cost Savings and Employee Safety

Wethersfield, CT (WorkersCompensation.com) - Addressing safety and health issues in the workplace saves employers money and adds value to any business. That's the message for attendees during a June 18 Breakfast Roundtable Discussion meeting sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor's Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA). The 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. breakfast event will take place at the agency's Wethersfield office at 200 Folly Brook Boulevard.

Bruce A. Jacobsen, M.Ed., a physical therapist at Yale-New Haven Hospital will talk about “Protecting You and Your Employees through Physical Demand Screens.” He will discuss the importance of a properly implemented physical screening process to ensure workers are able to meet the physical demands of the job and thus minimize injuries in the workplace.

“When an employee is injured on the job, direct and indirect costs are incurred and can be substantial,” explains CONN-OSHA Occupational Safety Training Specialist and Certified Safety Professional John Able, who coordinates the breakfast series. “This can range from productive time lost, time and cost for repair or replacement of any damaged equipment and materials, cost of completing paperwork generated by the incident, and reduced morale among employees.”

Adequate time for questions will be allotted. While admission is free, pre-registration is required. To register or for additional information, please contact Able at able.john@dol.gov.
