New London, CT (CompNewsNetwork) - Christopher Hall, age 47, of 71 Cross Road, Waterford, was arrested today on a warrant charging him with Workers' Compensation Fraud, a felony carrying a maximum prison term of 20 years.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Mr. Hall collected more than $7,500 in workers' compensation benefits as a result of an injury he reported suffering on August 12, 2005, while working for the Town of Waterford Public Works Department.
While collecting benefits, Mr. Hall worked for D.W. Transport & Leasing of Uncasville and Z&S Fuel of Fishers Island, New York, the warrant alleges.
The warrant alleges that Mr. Hall "intentionally misrepresented his claimed injury and intentionally failed to disclose his employment and wage earnings while collecting disability benefits."
Mr. Hall was released on a written promise to appear in New London Superior Court, G.A. No. 10, on September 12, 2008.
The case will be prosecuted by the Workers' Compensation Fraud Control Bureau of the Chief State's Attorney's Office in Rocky Hill.
The charge against Mr. Hall is merely an accusation, and he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
