Sciame and Hittinger discuss "Managing Medication Utilization in  Workers' Compensation"

Tampa, Fl  (CompNewsNetwork) - Toby Hittinger, Assistant Vice President, Workers Compensation, PMA Insurance Group and Dr. Maria Sciame, Director of Clinical Services, PMSI, Inc. will be featured guest speakers at the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute's (PBMI) annual Drug Benefit Conference to be held this month in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Hittinger and Sciame's presentation "Managing Medication Utilization in Workers' Compensation Populations" will present solid data demonstrating significant improvement in medication utilization, successful risk mitigation results, and substantial cost savings.  Formulary management strategies in workers' compensation versus group health will be discussed, as well as the role of clinical pharmacy programs for workers' compensation, and case examples to illustrate appropriate use of medication therapies for injured workers.  Additionally, they will review the changing dynamic of pharmacy benefit managers (PBM's), payors, injured workers and physician relationships-how clinical resources can support smarter, more effective decision making-to produce improved care for the injured worker and cost efficiency for the payor.
