New York, NY (CompNewsNetwork) - New York State Insurance Department's Frauds Bureau has announced a Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania woman was arrested for grand larceny for collecting $10,700 in workers' compensation benefits while she was employed at a Corning, New York hotel.
Joanne Lee Wilber, 50, of 14-B Mechanics St., was arrested by Investigator William Fedrau of the New York State Insurance Department's Frauds Bureau, assisted by New York State Police Investigator Douglas Childs from Painted Post. Wilber was placed in Steuben County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail pending a hearing.
Wilber was employed at the Stay Bridge Suites while accepting the workers' compensation benefits between March 2007 and April 2008 for a 2001 injury that she claimed left her unable to work. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
