Pennsylvania Forum To Address Challenges Facing Workers Who Are Hard Of Hearing

Harrisburg, PA (CompNewsNetwork) - Pennsylvania Elk County residents who are hard of hearing are encouraged to attend a community forum that will be sponsored by the Department of Labor & Industry's Office for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing.

The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at the St. Marys Public Library, 127 Center St.

The forum will raise awareness of the technology available to help people with hearing loss communicate at work. It will also show how the communication access real-time translation system works. Information will be provided on hearing aids, laws and advocacy efforts.

Office for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing staff will moderate the meeting where residents will discuss the unique challenges facing Pennsylvanians with hearing loss, and how the office can help address issues such as education, employment and emergency preparedness.

The meeting will be accessible in English and American Sign Language, via communication access real-time translation. An assistive-learning system will also be available. Attendance at the community forum is free; the public is welcome to attend.
