PA Governor Rendell Announces Senior Level Appointments At Department Of Labor And Industry

Harrisburg, PA (CompNewsNetwork) - Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell today
announced the appointments and promotions of several senior-level Department of Labor and
Industry staff. These positions report directly to acting Secretary Sandi Vito, who has led
the department since February.
"Under Sandi, the Department of Labor &
Industry will continue to deliver the high-quality services that Pennsylvania's workers
and employers expect and deserve,” Governor Rendell said. "The individuals being named
today will make meaningful contributions to fulfilling the department's work.”
Deputy Secretary for Labor-Management Relations Bob O'Brien, in addition to his regular duties, will serve as executive deputy secretary. In this position, O'Brien will assist Vito in overseeing day-to-day department activities.
Fred Dedrick will serve as acting deputy secretary for workforce development, overseeing activities of the Bureau of Workforce Development Partnership, the Center for Workforce Information & Analysis, and the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps. Prior to this appointment, Dedrick served the department as director of innovation and technical assistance and as executive director of the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board.
Additionally, Neil Cashman was appointed senior advisor for external affairs, Neil
Malady will serve as the director of the Office of Legislative Affairs and Jane Pomerantz
was appointed chief counsel.
