Albany, NY  (CompNewsNetwork) - Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags on State government buildings throughout New York be flown at half-staff on August 7, 2008 for a period of 24-hours in honor of fallen New York State Trooper Shawn W. Snow. Trooper Snow died in the line of duty last Sunday when struck by an electrical current while repairing a stranded motorist’s tire near the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge.

Trooper Snow served as a New York State Trooper for 19 years and was assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit where his responsibilities were to inspect trucks crossing the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge and local roadways.

“I was saddened to learn of the tragic death of New York State Trooper Shawn W. Snow,” said Governor Paterson. “His death reminds us of the dangers which our brave troopers face everyday while protecting and serving the public. Our state mourns alongside Trooper Snow's family, friends and the entire law enforcement community.
