New York, NY (CompNewsNetwork) - Willis Group Holdings Limited (NYSE: WSH), the global insurance broker, today announced the appointment of Gerry McCarthy as Senior Vice President, and Regional Director of Construction and Real Estate Claim teams of Willis of New York, Inc. McCarthy's responsibilities include leadership of the Construction and Real Estate claim teams and developing risk-transfer and claim resolution strategies that will help lower client costs.
McCarthy brings more than 20 years of experience with him to the position. Prior to joining Willis, McCarthy was Senior Vice President at Allied North America, a construction risk brokerage, where he managed the claim department. Before that, he was co-managing attorney of the construction practice group at Jones Hirsch Connors & Bull, P.C., an insurance defense litigation firm in New York. McCarthy began his career at the law firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, where he worked in civil and commercial litigation, with emphasis on construction, insurance and reinsurance matters, before joining AIG’s construction risk management division as Vice President in New York.

McCarthy earned his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin, and his J.D. from New York Law School. He has published opinions in law journals, and authored numerous articles and lectures about construction and labor laws.
