Louisiana Doctor Guilty Of Insurance Fraud, Facing The Possibility Of A 40 Year Sentence

Baton Rouge, LA (CompNewsNetwork) - A Baton Rouge doctor is facing the possibly of spending 40 years in prison after being found guilty of insurance fraud.

Dr Copes operates the Scoliosis Treatment Clinic on Picardy Avenue in Baton Rouge.

Judge Anthony Marabella found Arthur Copes guilty of fraudulently billing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana more than $88,000.

Dr Copes was also found to have accepted upfront payments from clients who believed  they were being treated by  a licensed medical doctor, which Copes was not.

Dr  Copes will be sentenced on November 12th. He could be sentences  up to five years in prison per count of fraud.
