Kids’ Chance of California Celebrates San Diego Proclamation Declaring October 13–17 as “Kids’ Chance Week”

San Diego, CA — Kids’ Chance of California (KCCA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing educational scholarships to children of California workers seriously injured or killed on the job, proudly announces that the Mayor of San Diego has issued an official proclamation declaring October 13–17, 2025 as Kids’ Chance Week in the City of San Diego.

This proclamation underscores the city’s commitment to supporting KCCA’s mission: helping students overcome financial hardship caused by workplace injuries or fatalities. It also amplifies community awareness and encourages collaboration across civic, educational, and business sectors.

“We are deeply grateful to the City of San Diego and the Mayor’s Office for recognizing Kids’ Chance Week,” said Kristen Chavez, President, Kids’ Chance of California. “This designation shines a light on the challenges faced by children of injured workers and calls on our community to stand with these students—through support, mentorship, advocacy, and giving.”
