IAIABC And AWCBC Collaborate To Explore Similarities And Share Solutions To Common Workers’ Compensation Challenges

Madison, WI  (CompNewsNetwork) - The Association of Workers' Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC) and the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) have collaborated to provide an opportunity for conference delegates to explore these topics at one combined event that features the IAIABC Annual Convention and the AWCBC Learning Symposium.

While there may be differences in the legislation and regulation of workers' compensation between the United States and Canada, professionals from both countries face many of the same challenges relating to claims management, health care, safety and prevention and return to work.

This event will be hosted by WorkSafeBC October 26-31, 2008 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The event will provide an exclusive opportunity for decision-makers and workers' compensation stakeholders to gain knowledge and expertise and learn and share new strategies and solutions to address common challenges.  Combined programming emphasizes the commonalities across systems and offers important and useful insights into universal worker compensation concerns.

The Convention and Symposium programs include over 30 sessions that will be offered to delegates.  Presentations such as A Review of Legislative Trends in the U.S. and Canada will explore how changes in policy and law in one jurisdiction may influence others, allowing you to anticipate potential impacts in your jurisdiction.  Discussion of controversial issues like the AMA's Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 6th Edition, will help attendees make informed decisions about complex issues that affect many system stakeholders.

Gain insight into how effective programs can transform employers into safer organizations, hear about a jurisdiction's journey on their Road to Zero or join the session that will explore the emerging issue of foreign workers. Other presentations will describe innovative solutions and new techniques to improve claims handling, resolve disputes, and promote return to work programs.
