Texas Workers’ Compensation 101 for Medical Office Staff

                       

The Division of Workers’ Compensation and the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) Small Business Development Center will offer a seminar on September 19, 2018, for health care providers and staff that provide care to injured employees in the Texas workers’ compensation system. The seminar will be at the UTSA Downtown Campus, 501 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is $40.00 in advance, and $60.00 at the door. The fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and parking. 

The seminar covers:

  • Identifying a workers’ compensation patient and verifying coverage;
  • Utilization Review - prospective, concurrent, and retrospective review of medical necessity;
  • Return-to-work and the DWC073;
  • Medical bill processing and fee guidelines; and
  • Processes for resolving disputes.
