Course Objectives

The claims professional will understand the most common upper extremity (UE) repetitive motion/ overuse injuries and how they are diagnosed and treated. The claims professional will understand recovery expectations for both surgical and non-surgical treatments, as well as risk factors that contribute to the incidence and severity of these injuries.

·       Identify up to 10 types of repetitive/overuse injuries
·       Define the 3 causes of neuropathy
·       Identify the 2 most common focal neuropathies
·       Identify the most common shoulder overuse injury
·       Gain a better understanding of the differential diagnosis process in determining CTS vs. CuTS and describe the clinical presentation
·       Explore conservative & surgical treatment modalities
·       Identify ergonomic and work-related risk factors for these injuries

About the presenter

Mary Watkins, OT, OTR

Mary is the Director of Clinical Programs at One Call, overseeing both the Physical Therapy and Dental Clinical Review programs. She manages the Gold Standard Review processes and provides extensive program education at payor, provider, and internal levels. She has 14 years of experience in healthcare, including orthopedics and workers compensation, as well as being a prior therapy provider of One Call. She utilized her practical experience to become the first staff Occupational Therapist Clinical Reviewer and also performs Ergonomic Evaluations for her fellow One Call associates.
