Course Objectives:
The claims professional will improve their knowledge of cross-cultural differences and learn how culture and healthcare literacy may impact patient compliance. The learner will examine strategies to build an informed collaborative network of stakeholders; healthcare providers, nurse case managers, claims adjustors and language translators.
- Define cultural diversity and bring awareness of cross-cultural differences
- Prepare the learner to recognize signs of poor healthcare literacy and how to ensure informed medical decision making
- Distinguish how barriers with communication and healthcare literacy may prolong medical recovery and treatment compliance
- Examine strategies to build a collaborative network of stakeholders; claims professionals, healthcare providers and ancillary language services
About the presenter
Hayley Tidwell, BSN, RN, CCM, Director of Clinical Education
Hayley proactively monitors One Call's most complex cases to deliver the right care at the right time throughout the life of the claim. Hayley leverages 20 years of experience as a physical rehabilitation nurse for brain, stroke, orthopedic and spinal cord injuries. She has more than 20 years of experience in the workers' compensation industry, including prior experience as a nurse case manager. Hayley delivers continuing education courses to claims professionals on complex issues that are impacting claims outcomes.
