Braves, Dawgs and SBWC: Champions for the People!

The Honorable Benjamin J. Vinson, Chairman of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, along with Board Directors Honorable Frank R. McKay and Honorable Neera Bahl, and Executive Director, Delece A. Brooks, are excited to announce the annual SBWC 2022 Regional Educational Series, also known as “The Road Show,” will take place this spring - live and in person! Under their leadership, the Board will host five in-person seminars providing valuable information for those impacted by the Georgia workers’ compensation system including employers, self-insurers, human resource and risk managers, insurance claims adjusters, rehabilitation specialists, medical service providers, workers’ compensation attorneys, paralegals and other system participants.

The 2022 seminar will include an address from the Chairman highlighting legislative and Board Rule changes in addition to the annual case law update from local administrative law judges, claimants’ and defense attorneys explaining recent developments in Georgia law. Additionally, the Public Education Committee - composed of attorneys and other workers’ compensation industry experts – will make their innovative and energetic presentations including an interactive discussion of the posted panel and how to avoid pitfalls to ensure injured workers receive proper medical care. A special segment will feature a panel led discussion to identify and address issues that arise during a claim, from early investigation to claim closure for a number of injuries that can impact the management and cost of the claim. Finally, a panel of experts will address Covid-19 as a workers’ compensation claim and how to navigate the system to properly care for these uniquely injured workers.
