Austin, TX (WorkersCompensation.com) - The State Office of Risk Management recently worked together with client agency, the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, to develop an informative and entertaining awareness video promoting the importance of practicing an emergency building evacuation plan.
“It was an honor to be asked to partner with TRS in this production,” said Executive Director of SORM, Stephen Vollbrecht. “Collaborative efforts like this are essential in the shared enterprise of government. For SORM, this represents and reinforces the unity and integrity of the best concepts of enterprise level risk management programs.”
“Being able to leverage the resources of SORM in addressing a safety and risk management need that we all face is extremely valuable,” said Jay LeBlanc, Director of Risk Management and Strategic Planning. “In addition to working with SORM, we also collaborated with the Austin Fire Department who worked closely with our Department Safety Officers and provided practical guidance that improved our existing plans. Capturing footage of our annual exercise and using it as a training mechanism will enhance our overall program here at TRS. We believe the video is just as enjoyable as it is informative, and will be a great safety awareness tool for our workforce.”
Effective safety training should engage audiences, and this video is intended inspire viewers to put together a “game plan” in the event of an actual emergency evacuation. You can find a short article on emergency evacuation that includes a link to the video here
