TX DOI Introduces Comp Connection For Health Care Providers

Dallas, TX (CompNewsNetwork) - Health care providers in the Texas workers' compensation system can now obtain practical information and guidance on treating injured employees by calling the toll-free Comp Connection for Health Care Providers at 1-800-372-7713 or in the Austin area dial 512-804-4000.

The telephone help line enhances the health care provider assistance and education services offered by the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation (TDI-DWC). Assistance available to treating doctors and referral health care providers includes: information on how to use treatment guidelines; billing and reimbursement; workers' compensation forms; licensing and certification requirements; and monitoring, compliance and enforcement.

“Comp Connection formalizes and improves the assistance that is provided to health care providers by the agency. We now offer consolidated services to address the needs of health care providers and respond to questions even more quickly and consistently,” states Commissioner of Workers' Compensation Rod Bordelon.

One TDI-DWC goal is to recruit, retain and encourage health care provider participation in the workers' compensation system. Comp Connection for Health Care Providers will help the agency achieve this goal by providing just-in-time information to health care providers who provide services to people in the workers' compensation system. To assist the agency in achieving this goal, the Texas Legislature has appropriated funding for health care provider outreach, enabling the dedication of additional agency staff for the initiative.
