Texas Gov Reappoints Darwin as Injured Employee Public Counsel

                               

Austin, TX (WorkersCompensation.com) - Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Norman Darwin of Benbrook as the Injured Employee Public Counsel for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The public counsel helps injured employees in the workers' compensation system, oversees the ombudsman program, and advocates on behalf of injured employees to ensure balance and fairness for all in the system.

Darwin is an attorney and the current public counsel for the Office of Injured Employee Counsel, a position he has held since his appointment in December 2005. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Tarrant County Bar Association. He is also a past member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, past director emeritus of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and past president of the North Fort Worth Rotary Club. He served in the U.S. Army.

Darwin received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law

This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
