Salem, OR (WorkersCompensation.com) - Innovative workplace safety and health information and industry best practices will be showcased at the Region X VPPPA Conference, scheduled for May 21-23, 2013, at the Davenport Hotel & Tower in Spokane, Wash.
The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA) is the leading organization dedicated to cooperative occupational safety, health, and environmental management systems through partnerships with employees, management, and government. The VPPPA is a member-based association, providing a network of more than 1,900 companies and worksites that are involved in or are in the process of applying to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) or the Department of Energy's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), and government agencies that are developing or implementing cooperative recognition programs.
Keynote speaker Leigh Anne Jasheway, known as a master of public health and mistress of public humor, will present "Keep Safe, Keep Healthy, Keep Laughing." Jasheway accidentally fell into comedy 20 years ago and it saved her life and sanity. Since then, she has been helping individuals learn to let go of stress and unhealthy behaviors with laughter.
"You can either laugh or lie face down weeping into the carpet," she said. "And if you choose the latter, it's unsafe for you and everyone around you. Choosing a lighter perspective gives you focus and power over your life. Only when you gain those things will you have the motivation to make the changes you need at home and work to live a healthier, safer life."
Other topics featured at the conference include:
• VPP basics – fundamentals, application process
• Management leadership, employee involvement
• Workplace wellness, bullying, safety excellence
Registration for the event is $275, with price breaks for VPP membership and one-day attendance. For more information about the conference or to register, visit www.regonline.com/regionx_vpppa13 or www.RegionXVPPPA.org.
