Denver, CO (WorkersCompensation.com) - Pinnacol Assurance’s chief legal and corporate resources officer, Terrence “Terry” Leve, was recently named a 2018 First Chair award recipient as top general counsel. Leve is receiving the award for the second consecutive year. Pinnacol is Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation insurer.
Given annually by the First Chair legal organization, the award recognizes counsels who demonstrate exemplary leadership at their companies and in their communities and a commitment to the highest ethical standards and professional excellence. Prospective award recipients must be nominated by at least three attorneys from outside law firms. Among awardees are general counsels from the Los Angeles Clippers, Sargento Foods, Massage Envy, Duracell, Golden State Warriors, Zurich North America, Esurance, PayPal, Raytheon, Postmates, Sears and Choice Hotels.
Leve provides advice and counsel to Pinnacol’s board of directors and senior managers on legal, governance and corporate matters while leading Pinnacol’s legal services, subrogation, compliance, special investigations, facilities and corporate services functions. Leve also directs Pinnacol’s ethics officers and crisis management team.
Under Leve’s leadership, Pinnacol has improved and streamlined its litigation and special investigations processes, resulting in significant cost savings, and has built business continuity programs and risk evaluation tools and improved readiness protocols.

Leve is the recipient of LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell’s absolute highest attorney rating of AV® Preeminent™, is a National Association of Corporate Directors governance fellow, and has both a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Southern California. He is married and is the father of six children. Leve enjoys spending time with his family, reading, exercising and performing community service, including serving as an executive board member of the Boy Scouts of America, Denver Council and on the board of directors of the Colorado Civil Justice League.
