Juneau, AK (WorkersCompensation.com) - The annual Governor's Safety & Health Conference will be March 18-20 at the Egan Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage. The conference, “Safety Pays at Work, Home and Play,” is open to employers, employees, safety and health professionals and the general public.
Speakers include:
• Dr. Margaret Kitt, deputy director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, who will provide keynote remarks on the changing face of occupational health and safety on March 19.
• Motivational speaker Kina Repp, who lost her arm in an occupational accident, will discuss the importance of training, safety procedures and a great attitude on March 20.
• Gov. Sean Parnell, who will welcome attendees at the Awards Luncheon on March 20 via live video.
Sponsored by the Alaska Safety Advisory Council, the conference focuses on emerging safety and health issues, and advanced safety needs that are unique to the state. Training and networking opportunities illustrate a strong commitment and partnership among industry, government and labor organizations.
Conference coordinators anticipate more than 350 attendees representing oil and gas, construction, health care, tourism, recreation, state and local government, Alaska Native corporations, aviation, mining, timber and fishing.
