Ohio Company Employees Are Key To Safety Milestone

Cincinnati, OH  (CompNewsNetwork) - Employees and management of Richards Industries of Cincinnati are celebrating a major safety milestone today. The company has achieved more than 2.5 million hours worked without a lost-time claim, where an employee is off work for more than seven days due to injury. The company employs 125 associates and utilizes many safety practices supported by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC).

"The leadership of Richards Industries has worked with BWC experts to put a comprehensive safety plan in place," said Bruce Boxterman, company president. "However, it is the employees who make the commitment to create a safe environment for themselves and their co-workers every day. I'm extremely proud of our team and this great accomplishment."

The company has formed a safety committee comprised of employees from several areas of the organization. The committee's efforts have helped to develop a safety culture across the organization by conducting regular departmental safety checks that ensure safety procedures are being followed and eliminate potential hazards.

"Richards Industries' exemplary safety record is the result of thoughtful planning and dedication throughout the organization," said Marsha Ryan, BWC Administrator. "Partnering with companies like Richards Industries creates a culture of safety that provides peace of mind for employees and a competitive edge for companies."

Established in 1948, Richards Industries is a leading provider of a variety of industrial valves for the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries around the world. The company also provides valves for the paper products, tire and rubber, machinery and electrical equipment, transportation equipment and energy industries.

BWC's Division of Safety & Hygiene (DSH) works with Ohio employers to improve safety and prevent workplace incidents at no direct cost. DSH was established by the Ohio General Assembly as a consultative service to inform, educate and assist employers in loss-prevention activities.
