NY Medical Treatment Guidelines – Training and Final Forms

Schenectady, NY (WorkersCompensation.com) - Proposed additions and revisions to the Medical Treatment Guidelines (MTG) were recently announced in Subject Number 046-497. These include the adoption of new Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Medical Treatment Guidelines, new maintenance care program recommendations, and revisions to existing processes.

Training

To facilitate compliance with the new standards and processes, the Board is creating an e-learning training program which will provide free, online training beginning mid-January 2013 on the Board's website. The Board plans to make an official announcement when the training is finalized and becomes available.

Forms

On November 14, 2012, the Board posted new proposed drafts of MTG forms, containing changes that had previously been discussed with stakeholders. Several stakeholders submitted comments on the draft forms. The Board has reviewed all comments and incorporated changes where advisable. The final forms are now posted on the website, along with a document detailing all changes. Parties are expected to begin using the forms as soon as the regulations take effect. Older versions of Form MG-2 will not be accepted more than 60 days after the effective date of the revised Medical Treatment Guideline regulations in 2013.
