Schaumburg, IL (WorkersCompensation.com) - Zurich North America announces the appointment of Terry McCafferty as head of Group Captives, a key strategic business unit of Programs & Direct Markets. In his new role, effective Feb. 1, McCafferty will be responsible for the operational management of the company's Group Captives business, including member-owned, agency and association captives. He will ensure strong relationships with captive consultants and boards.
McCafferty, 51, replaces Rod DeMaso, who recently moved to a new role as director of Technical Underwriting for Zurich Product Underwriting. McCafferty will relocate from Zurich's offices in Overland Park, Kansas, to the company's North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.
McCafferty has 27 years of experience in the insurance industry. He joined Zurich in 1998 as assistant vice president of Product Development for Zurich Personal Insurance. Since then, he has held various operating, finance and underwriting roles across the organization, culminating in his most recent position as chief operating officer for Zurich Programs & Direct Markets.
Prior to joining Zurich, McCafferty spent several years with subsidiaries of Great American Insurance Group's commercial and specialty operations. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Miami University, and a master's in business administration from Xavier University. In addition, he is a certified public accountant and holds the CPCU designation.
