LWC Welcomes New Leaders

Baton Rouge, LA (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) is pleased to welcome Patrick Robinson, Herbert Dixon, and Jenee Slocum to advance LWC's principal mission of putting people to work. Each will provide meaningful contributions to the agency with their vast and varied experience in public affairs.

Patrick Robinson, a workers' compensation judge in Shreveport, now heads the Office of Workers' Compensation Administration as the Interim Director. A Shreveport native and a U.S. Army veteran, Robinson is a veteran workers' compensation professional, representing employees, employers and insurers for many years. 

“Patrick is a seasoned professional in many facets of workers' compensation,” says Curt Eysink, LWC Executive Director. “His appointment by the governor means we won't miss a beat as we continue to improve this area of LWC's mission across the state.”

LWC Outreach Director Herbert Dixon, a recently retired 7-year member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, will work with local Workforce Investment Boards and community partners in the Delta region to help connect those living in the poorer parts of the state with quality jobs. Dixon has developed close ties and familiarity with the Delta region as a 15-year veteran of the Rapides Parish School Board and a representative of the region to the Louisiana State Legislature.

“Herbert's knowledge of the area, his relationships with many people in the Delta, and his passion for helping to lift people out of poverty through employment gives us a unique opportunity to lift up an area that needs it the most,” says Eysink.

In Dixon's 7-year tenure at the Legislature, he served on numerous committees and chaired the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee. He also served as a member of the Louisiana Legislature Black Caucus and the Louisiana Rural Caucus.

LWC's new Workforce Investment Council Director, Jenee Slocum, brings both state and international experience to the agency. Slocum recently served as the Director of Special Projects for Louisiana Economic Development (LED), where she managed all aspects of speaking engagements, key meetings, and social engagements for the LED Secretary, researched and wrote policy white papers and briefings for the governor, served as a liaison between LED and the higher education community, and advised and coordinated the activities of the Louisiana Innovation Council, a group dedicated to shape Louisiana's innovation agenda in consultation with public, private, and higher education stakeholders. Slocum was also an integral asset in developing the Workforce and Innovation for a Stronger Economy (WISE) Fund in the 2014 legislative session and the operating parameters for use and distribution of Fund dollars.

“Jenee is already familiar with initiatives at LWC,” says Eysink. “Her doctorate focusing on higher education will be invaluable in working with higher education institutions in aligning with workforce initiatives across the state.”

In addition to her state government experience, Jenee has worked on local and international platforms, including her service as LSU Student Body President in 1998 and her participation on the Rio 2016 team that translated Rio de Janeiro's successful bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
