Sarasota, FL (CompNewsNetwork) - It was revealed today that creators of the “Virtual Claims Kit” have calculated that their new paperless product could save 1,000,000 pounds of paper over the next year, providing tremendous savings and dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of the workers' compensation industry. WorkersCompensation.com, which announced the availability of the VCK in October, calculated the number based on the total combined claims kits being printed and mailed by all of the companies currently reviewing or in the contracting process for the new service.
The Virtual Claims Kit is a web based service that provides all of the necessary forms, brochures, posters and related compliance information for PEO and insurance company customers, as well as self insured's operational locations. The documents are fed through a branded web portal on the client's website, so all documents appear to be coming directly from the provider's website.
Robert Wilson, President and CEO of WorkersCompensation.com, said of the announcement, “The Virtual Claims Kit is proving to be the best of all worlds. Simple, streamlined delivery providing real time forms and compliance information for the customer, while eliminating all of the waste and expense typically associated with traditional distribution methods. Company's today that want to show they are responsible corporate citizens can “go green” where it counts the most – in the direct service to their customers.” Wilson says the Virtual Claims Kit covers all 50 states, and was created in response to a client request. The company realized that much of what they needed already existed within their WorkCompResearch Compliance and Information system. Wilson says of the decision to create the VCK, “It was obvious that we had much of the data needed within WCR to accomplish this project. We recognized that by repurposing the content we were able to create a tremendous new resource, and when we calculated the first year potential reduction in paper, we were quite surprised. When you consider the additional savings in manpower and distribution, it was simply staggering.”
Wilson indicated some of the greatest “green” benefits the system provides are the reductions in unused printed material, as well as the energy used in the generation and distribution of that material. The traditional “physical claims kit” represents an area of tremendous waste. Many employers misplace them, and when they eventually need a simple form, often get an entirely new claims kit with it. Wilson indicates that the VCK is “an eco-friendly service vehicle. It allows our customers to serve their customers efficiently, effortlessly and on demand.” With the Virtual Claims Kit, which is available 24/7, employers will be able to access the forms they need, when they need them. And as for saving the planet? Wilson pauses, and with a slight smile says, “Well, that's just icing on the cake”.
