SAWCA President Beck, Two Others Re-appointed to SC Workers' Compensation Commission
Columbia, SC (WorkersCompensation.com) – The South Carolina State Senate this week reappointed T. Scott Beck to the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission for a term that continues to June 30, 2026. Beck was also reappointed as Chairman of the S.C. Workers' Compensation Commission for a term beginning July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022.
Beck was first appointed to the Commission in 2008 and has served as Chairman since 2010. He graduated with a BS degree from Penn State and received his JD degree from the USC School of Law. Prior to joining the Commission, he served in various positions in law enforcement and as an Assistant Attorney General. Commissioner Beck served as a City Councilman in North Augusta, S.C. and was elected to the SC House of Representatives, 1996-2000. He is a member of the Boards of the National Association of Workers' Compensation Judiciary and the Southern Association of Workers' Compensation Administrators.
Also reappointed were Commissioners Aisha G. Taylor, Esq., and Avery B. Wilkerson, Jr., for a term that continues through June 30, 2026.
Taylor was first appointed to the Commission on January 31, 2013. Before being named to the Commission, she was a shareholder in the law firm of Collins & Lacy, practicing primarily in workers' compensation defense and employment law. Commissioner Taylor graduated from the University of South Carolina where she was a team captain for the 2002 Women's Track & Field National Championship Team. She graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2006. Commissioner Taylor clerked for the Honorable Brooks P. Goldsmith of South Carolina's Sixth Judicial Circuit before joining Collins & Lacy.
Commissioner Wilkerson was first appointed to the S.C. Workers' Compensation Commission in June 2008. Prior to joining the Commission, he served as the Vice President of Countybanc Insurance, Inc. and as the Mayor of the City of Cayce, S.C.. He is a graduate of Newberry College and has held numerous positions on various professional and civic boards. Commissioner Wilkerson serves on the board of the SC Workers' Compensation Educational Association.
