Widow Entitled To Death Benefit, But Not Lump Sum Payout, KY Supreme Court Says
Frankfort, KY (WorkersCompensation.com) – When a sheriff’s deputy died after surgery related to an on-the-job injury, his widow was entitled to workers’ compensation benefits, the Kentucky Supreme Court found last week.
In Calloway County Sheriff’s Department v. Woodall, the court found that while she was entitled to surviving spouse income benefits, the widow was not entitled to a lump sum payout.
