Concord, NH (WorkersCompensation.com) - Chris Nicolopoulos of Bow was confirmed as Commissioner of the New Hampshire Insurance Department on Wednesday. He was nominated by Governor Chris T. Sununu and unanimously approved by the New Hampshire Executive Council.
Previously, Chris Nicolopoulos served as the President and CEO of the New Hampshire Association of Insurance Agents for five years. Prior to leading the NH Association of Insurance Agents, Nicolopoulos was an associate at Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau & Pachios PLLP, and Government Affairs Director at the New Hampshire Association of Realtors.
“The employees at the NH Insurance Department are its greatest asset,” said Commissioner Nicolopoulos. “I am excited to begin working with Department's dedicated staff on behalf of New Hampshire consumers.”
The nomination by Governor Sununu came after the resignation of John Elias. Commissioner Nicolopoulos is slated to serve out the remainder of the term, through June 2023.
“Congratulations to Chris Nicolopoulos on his unanimous confirmation to serve as the next Insurance Commissioner,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “Chris will fight to preserve the individual market, work to lower insurance costs, and is going to get the job done for New Hampshire families.”
Commissioner Nicolopoulos earned his J.D. from New England Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of New Hampshire. Since 2002, Nicolopoulos has been licensed to practice law in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
