New Study Suggests Burn Injuries Impact Gut Microbiome

Sarasota, FL (WorkersCompensation.com) – Severe burn injuries not only cause damage to the skin, but damage to the intestinal tract as well. A new study suggests large volumes of IV fluids may be key to promoting recovery of beneficial bacteria. “Burns don't just cause skin damage – they result in physiological stress and inflammation that may lead to infections and other serious complications,” according to the study published in the journal SHOCK. ...
