Washington, DC (WorkersCompensation.com) - The American Insurance Association (AIA) is pleased to announce the election of Anthony J. Kuczinski, president and chief executive officer at Munich Reinsurance America, Inc., as chairman of AIA's Board of Directors. Kuczinski was elected at AIA's March Board meeting and will succeed Chris Swift, chairman and chief executive officer at The Hartford.

Tony's decades of experience in the industry and his forward-looking, innovative leadership at Munich Re will be an immense addition to AIA. Kuczinski joined Munich Re in 1989 and became president and chief executive officer of Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. in 2008, following roles as president of insurance company operations and president of the specialty markets division. He is chief executive officer of Munich Re's US P&C Operations, and also serves as chair of the board of Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance Group and American Modern Insurance Group, both Munich Re companies. During his more than 30 years in the insurance industry, he has also served as a board member and chair of the Reinsurance Association of America, board member and chair of The Institutes, and as an executive committee member of the St. John's University School of Risk Management Advisory Board. Kuczinski is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). He completed the Advanced Executive Education Program in conjunction with the American Institute of CPCU and the Wharton School. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University.
Outside of the insurance industry, Kuczinski serves on the board of Penn Medicine at Princeton and has served as board member and chair of Eden Autism Services and the National School Boards Foundation.
