Juneau, AK (WorkersCompensation.com) - The U.S. Department of Labor has designated May 8-12, 2017 as the 4th annual National Safety Stand-Down event. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 350 of the 937 construction fatalities recorded in 2015.
Alaska Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH) Consultation and Training will sponsor fall protection training in Anchorage and Juneau as part of National Safety Stand-Down. Both locations will have classroom training on regulations. The Anchorage training event will have hands-on drills regarding equipment selection, usage, and inspection. Certificates of Fall Protection Awareness Training will be distributed upon course completion for both training locations.
