Baton Rouge, LA (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Louisiana Workforce Commission has developed a series of online workers' compensation training courses designed to assist professionals whose work involves workplace safety.
Whether a small business or large corporation, employers can take advantage of the no-cost training courses, which can be accessed any time on LWC's website, www.laworks.net.
The First Request or Form 1010 and 1010 A training course, which takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, provides guidance to healthcare providers and insurance carriers on completing various workers' comp forms along with information on medical treatment guidelines.
A training course for Form 1009, which involves disputed claims for medical treatment, will be released in the coming weeks.
The OSHA Form 300 course provides guidance on differentiating work-related injuries and illnesses, distinguishing different forms of medical treatment such as first aid, and on completing the OSHA Form 300. To complete the course takes approximately 1.5 hours.
The training courses, created by LWC's Office of Workers' Compensation Administration, offer employers hands-on interactive assistance with completing required forms associated with reporting workplace injuries.
“Having the ability to accurately report and assess workplace injuries will help injured workers receive timely medical treatment, which means they can heal faster and return to the workforce quicker,” LWC Executive Director Curt Eysink said.
Employers, claims professionals, insurance adjusters, self-insurers, third-party administrators, attorneys, vocational rehabilitation providers, doctors, safety and risk managers, human resource professionals and anyone whose work involves workplace safety is encouraged to access the web-based training courses.
