LOL ! he kicked you to the curb.
The truth is that surgery really is a last resort and time may well heal the tears. You could be far worse off with surgery.
A second opinion with a hand specialist orthopedist is a good idea as most general ortho's do not want to attempt these complicated procedures and tend to treat much more conservatively for the first 6 weeks or so.

I have a wrist injury.. and have been dealing with comp. since 8/9/06. At first, I sat in various casts and splints because my doctor was unsure of my problem. However, I kept insisting something was wrong, my wrist was making a popping sound when it was rotated and was very painful. He sent me for a second opinion. That doctor scheduled me for a pisiform bone removal the following thursday! He seemed so confident, I said okay.. whatever will relieve this pain! 3 months pass and I still have the painful click.. he says im fine. I go back to the original doctor and he says no im not. I still had my originial problem and developed a new problem because of the bone removal! I know had a painful click AND ulnar nerve entrapment. The original doctor put a tube around my ulnar nerve and repaired a tendon called the ECU Tendon. NOW, I have to have surgery for something called DRUJ Instability. However, workers comp doesnt want to pay for this or give me weekly checks. It's been a long road for me, this happened when i was 17 and ill be 21 this year. I disagree with Cycler on the second opinion part.. only because, my second opinion acknowledged I had a problem, but didnt fix the right one. However, I do agree with them when they say you could be far worse with surgery. I no longer have a pisiform bone, which wasnt a problem to begin with.. I had numbness in my fingers from a ulnar nerve that was never injured until that bone removal, i now have a tube in my hand because of it..again, I NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAD.. my ecu tendon that was making the painful click, is fixed.. but somehow i now have DRUJ Instability which is also a painful shift/click of the bones. I am told now I have to have surgery that consist of cutting out a tendon, (if u look at the palm of ur hand.. the one that sticks up kinda if u push down on ur fingers with one hand, while trying to push ur fingers upward ..for resistance) anyway, they want to cut that out and drill holes in my bones ..lace that tendon through the holes they create to join my bones. IF that doesnt become a success, then they put screws in.. IF that doesnt work, then they put an artificial joint. Mind you.. I'm only 20. I don't know how all these surgeries are coming about, but now ..workers comp doesnt even want to pay! so think long and hard before anyone opens ur wrist, and as far as settlement goes.. august makes 3yrs for me and they havent even mentioned settlement. Sounds crappy, but it's true. I'm in pittsburgh, pa tho.. not nc ..might be different there?

What state are you in as they all have different laws?
I recommend getting another opinion about your injury, someone else other than the doctor who operated on you. Did you have a previous neck injury as well?
I am not an attorney.Anything I write should not be considered legal advice.I am writing from my own personal experiences, which is not from any sort of legal background. You should consult with an attorney over legal issues. In California, if you cannot get an attorney you can consult with an I&A officer.
