Hi I have a new lumbar injury. I am a nurse that works 11-7 shift. My employer says that I have to be on a different shift to be on modified duty. Do I have to work on a different shift. I own a business that I oversee from 1-5pm this will interfere with that. during daytime hours I am going to physical therapy. If I was to be on 11-7a shift they would have to have a second nurse with me at all times. I live in Massachusetts. Thanks for any help you can give me.

no you don't have to work a different shift. it's your choice.
they won't have to pay disability if you decide not to.

I agree with 1171. You were given Restrictions, and they have a Position that will Accommodate those Restrictions, so if You decide not to follow the New Shift Change, You could be putting Your w/c Case in Jeopardy. They are not Concerned nor do they have to Make Accommodations for Your Personal Business, all they have to do is Follow the Restrictions, and Provide You Work within those Restrictions, even if it means a Shift Change. I Wish You the Best, and I Hope You can get things Worked Out!
