Where to find AMA guidlines
#1
Hello all, can anyone tell me where I can find the AMA guidelines 5th edition, for VA. (I don't know if they are the same for all states or not). I have tried Googleing the words AMA guidelines and I just get either books for sale about it or the definision of what the AMA is. But I was hoping to find out what the actual guidlines are for disabilities.

Thanks for any sugestionsSmile

The only way you are going to be able to find the ama guidelines is to either purchase the book or you may be able to find a copy at a library. You are not the first that has sought out info. in reference to the book. I think one member actualy purchased the book, but that was some time ago.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. After going back to school, I received my degree as a mechanical engineer. What can I say, it was the only way I had to beat the system.

hurt at work, no your not nuts. There is a site that had a listing about the spine. However, that was just a few pages.

This site may be of some help as it gives a update on the 6th addition and the changes in rating as new printing.

The 6th edition is a bunch of bologna. My doctor rated me in Feb. 2008, and put me at 26%, per the 5th edition of the guidelines. But, since New Mexico adopts the new editions automatically ( they adopted this one in Jan. 2008), the insurance adjustor had him recalculate it for the 6th edition and my rating went from 26% to 9%. My attorney and I are fighting it all the way. I get about $450 a month from the IC now, for extreme pain and a fusion, discetomy, hardware and bone morphogenic protein-II all done at L5, S1. I'm on morphine, lyrica, anti-deppresants, sleeping pills. I get a tordol shot each time I see the pain management doc. The pain persists in my back, hips, buttocks, legs and feet, and just keeps getting worse if I happen to be out of the house and don't bring my meds and am late taking them, I have so much pain then, that I would rather die than have to live with it. And I've been told that I will probably have to live with it, because they aren't sure there is anything they can do, except make me as comfortable as possible with meds.

The pm doc, did a nerve conduction test and found that I have complete loss of my sciatic h reflex. But, the surgeon who says that the surgery was a complete success (uh, no it wasn't), says that he doesn't see on the test where it states that, so my 9% will stay, but he also states that he is not a specialist in reading the test results.

Ugh, it just gets uglier and uglier. Sorry for whining, just had to get it off my chest, and let everyone know how the 6th edition is extremely unfair to the IW.

Hi, Just wondering if you are still around and what happened in the end of your case (if there was an end yet).
