Permanent Impairment question
#1
Wink
Hello all, Ijust recvd. the findings from the court, regading both of my legs and feet, as being permanently impared. The Judge agreed that all 4 body parts, were due to my injury and were compensable. My lawyer said that I will have to get each body part rated and then they will have to send me an addl. check, for the disability. Does anyone know how theaddnl. check(s) are paid out?

I read in another post, that it is somehow determined by your rating...how does that work? The higher the rating...the longer you will get a check? And, how do they determine the amount...by the rating as well? Also, if a settlement is being offered, can this PD amount be included in the settlement? Finally, if there are multiple body parts that are injured, do they then add them all together, in order to decide how long they will have to send the check.

Any info. would be wondeful...Thnanks!

I'm surprised you haven't visited the virginia work com website by now
http://www.vwc.state.va.us/employees_guide.htm#benefits
Virginia uses the AMA guides for impairment ratings and it contains the formula for combining multiple ratings into a whole person impairment rating. ask your doctor to show you the calculation and explain it to you. the whole book is 18 chapters and 600 pages.
Reminder :
........Each state has their own comp system; POST YOUR STATE to get accurate information. Use the search feature to find information from similar questions.
THANKS FOR POSTING.

I have the AMA book sitting on the desk. It's not made for bedside reading. There are bits and pieces of it posted on other web sites.
