ust now Can I quit my job and do freelance work during workers comp?
#1
I got an attorney to file my workers comp claim last year. My claim was denied, but just had my deposition and my attorney will appeal. I'm also going to a clinic through my attorney, where the doctor has me on disability and giving me treatment. I haven't reached a final report yet.

I'm on medical leave and still technically employed by company, but I'm considering quitting and starting part-time freelance work. If I did this, can I still continue with the workers comp process until I receive my final report from the doctor?

Or in order for me to be able to have income as a part-time freelancer, would I have to quit my job and also quit the workers comp process (as in ask for a settlement right now even though I haven't even gotten my final report)?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

temporary disability is part of workers compensation benefits. if your doctor has you on temporary total disability, then they would have to release you to temporary partial or take you off temporary total status. your claim for temporary total would would cease at that point. you would still be eligible for medical and permanent disability. talk to your doctor and your atty. make sure the doctor puts any changes in your disability status in writing.
