Settlement questions
#1
When settling with ic, my lawyer says my case is worth 177,000..ic offer is 75,000 I am permanent 69%,  agreed in court for 7.2 years payments at 220 week, which just in payments would be a little over 99,000... is it a reasonable amount to settle with closing out everything? That's the highest amount nysif is willing to go apparently. I had a house fire and lost everything and really need the money at this      point, I wouldn't even be considering if it wasn't necessary.

I assume the "settlement" is a total buyout of all future benefits including medical.
if so, without knowing the value of your future medical expenses the adequacy of the amount cannot be determined.
are there other issues included in the settlement?
you can also accept the periodic payments with open medical and also request lump sum payment be taken out the
future payments (that's how your atty's fee will be paid).
to get an advance on your scheduled periodic payment you would need to file a c-21 with the board

as you can see from the form you have to justify the amount. the limit is what you can support with documentation.
