Lifting restriction

I am currently a support manager at WalMart. Around 12 years ago I was the passenger in a tragic car wreck that caused a break on all extremities. One of those was my higher arm and shoulder area. I have had two major surgeries on it with bone graph and plate put in. It has just now started to really effect me in every way and lifting some things really hurts. I went to a bone and joint clinic today that gave me an excuse to not lift over 5 pounds. Will this cause me to get fired or demoted? I am just at the point to making enough money and am stressing on rather I will lose the position or not. It does not require constant lifting but there are times where I have to help with trucks or stock. How should I go about this? I am a college graduate with no luck on a great job. I can not lose this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Depends on the minimum required duties of your job and how long you will have restrictions.
Did you file a comp claim on the aggravation?
You have the right to reasonable accommodation under federal ADA; the employer needs to discuss modified duties with you and your doctor.
