I settled my workers comp case in Georgia on yesterday'i already signed the contract. My attorney says it has to be approved by a judge before i can recieve the lump sum payment. He says i could possibly recieve the check next week but that seems a little too quick to me'it would be great if it did come in such a short period of time.My question is'the insurance company said that i had to resign from my job in order to settle the case'so does that disqualify me from getting unemployment??

yes, generally.
your disability has to be permanent to get unemployment benefits and you must have recent wage deductions in your unemployment account.
In Georgia, the base wage period is the first four of the five complete calendar quarters immediately before you filed for benefits. For example, if you file for benefits on 1/1/2016 your base period will be from october 1, 2014 through 9/30/2015. It would not include the most recent complete calendar quarter before you filed (October 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015).

if you qualify, sometimes an employer will issue a termination letter for being physically unable to preform necessary job duties.

you should start a separate thread for your questions:
http://www.workerscompensation.com/forum....php?fid=4
there could be many reasons.
your claim was denied or
you are not off work or
your doctor did not notify the carrier/employer that your time off work was approved for your injury or
your employer did not have workers compensation insurance or
?
this is a public message board; we have no access to any information on your claim other then what you post.
your atty, your employer, or your adjuster would be the best people to ask.

You hired at attorney, so why are you not asking him? He is going to take 20% so go get your money's worth.
