New to site....husband has been denied medical care/treatment from workers comp. filed a claim with state of Missouri. Had our first hearing and was told to hire an attorney. My husband has still been able to work through his injury. We meet with an attorney tomorrow. Was told by the judge yesterday they may send him to another doctor for second opinion. I heard the line the lawyer doesn't get paid til we do. Well who's pays for this next doctors visit the attorney may want him to see and treatment they recommend? And money isn't really what we are after just fix his injury and get him out of pain asap. So how does the attorney get paid with that situation?

couple options: sometimes the atty pays upfront and files the bill separately as costs.
also doctor can file bills directly with comp court as liens against future determination.
if your husband has health insurance, they will often pick up care on denied comp claims.

thank you....no we don't have any insurance for ourselves just our kids at this point. So typically no money out of pocket? Obviously depending on the attorney?

yes, generally. but I'm sure you'll get more information from your atty.
have you delt with attys before?
is this your first meeting or have you already retained them?
finding the right atty is not always easy.
